What do AIC Volunteers Say about their Experience?
Volunteering – Give back to your profession and grow your career by Joanne Hayes, AACI, Canadian Property Valuation Magazine - February 2011

- When people are involved in a voluntary capacity for the AIC or any other organization, this gives them the opportunity to develop other skills such as leadership. This kind of activity is not only rewarding, it can also assist in advancing your career.

- I volunteer in order to share my experience and knowledge in my own profession with a committee of my peers in a necessary component of the formal designation process. It is my involvement in this NSREAA provincial committee that led me to the Appraisal Institute of Canada’s Learning Advisory Committee’s Applied Experience Sub-Committee in 2009. An essential and important task to improve Student and Candidate applied experience across Canada waits. It is vital and necessary to become involved with this endeavor to improve professional competencies, enhance educational standards, and promote the continuance of our profession on the national and international stage. Without a volunteer effort in this regard, progress would not exist.
