Property Assessment Valuation Expert

Navitax Property Tax Consulting Paralegal Professional Corporation is a specialized company focused on reviewing and appealing property assessments for clients in Ontario. As a growing company, we are seeking an experienced senior real property valuation expert with knowledge and practice in all the approaches to value and primary property types including commercial, industrial and multi-residential.

The valuation expert’s responsibilities will include valuating properties that are in assessment appeals and defending the valuation for litigation purposes as an expert. Experience with assessments and involvement with the Assessment Review Board is a key asset.

Employees may work remotely on a work-from-home basis.

Duties:

·       Audit assessments

·       File expert reports

·       Outline issues, replies to valuation reports

·       Prepare reports, evidence, and supporting documentation and file according to deadlines

·       Gather & analyze real estate data

·       Communicate with clients

·       Inspect sites and buildings with MPAC and municipalities

·       Review leases, rent rolls and cap rates

·       Partake in mandatory meetings and hearings

Mandatory Qualifications:

·       Strong research and analytical skills

·       A good legal understanding of applicable laws in assessment and real estate taxation

·       Strong computer and writing skills

·       Exceptional math skills

·       Effective use of Excel and Google Sheets

·       Use of Microsoft Office applications

·       Detailed, organized and punctual

·       Great communication skills in person, on phone and email

·       Motivated & accountable

·       Ability to Multi-task and work independently

 

Requirements:

·       Experience (2-5 years minimum) in the assessment field

·       AACI, AIMA, MIMA or equivalents

·       Driver’s License and car

 

Job Type: Part-time, Work-from-Home

Part-time, other than scheduled events you are working on your own schedule.

Compensation will vary based on the experience level of the applicant.
