Sen-ten-sha) is a firm specializing in the preparation of appraisal reports for both private and public sector clients primarily for litigation matters related to expropriation and commercial legal disputes. Other Sententia practice areas include appraisals for community benefit charges, property tax assessment appeals, and rent renewals.

Sententia Realty Advisors is led by Ian Tilley.  With more than twenty years experience, he has built a reputation for his ability to solve complex valuation challenges and for preparation of superior appraisal reports. He is also an experienced expert witness in support of litigation files for a variety of real estate matters.

 

Position Description

The successful candidate will assist with the following duties:

  • Assist in the determination of real estate value estimates for a variety of commercial property types and development land;
  • Draft appraisal reports with direction from the Principal Appraiser;
  • Provide sale and investment analysis;
  • Prepare for and attend client meetings; and
  • Build relationships with municipalities, brokers, developers and landlords, collating information from each source to complete valuation assignments.

 

Required Skills

 Exceptional oral, written and presentation communication skills;

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel;
  • Strong ability to use Adobe Suite applications (Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat);
  • Superior internet research skills;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Able to take direction and share/transfer knowledge with others; and
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, and a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics.

 

 Education Requirements

  •  Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in commerce/finance, real estate, urban planning or geography related field.
  • AIC Candidate Member or newly designated AACI.

  

Experience Requirement & Designation

The ideal candidate will have two to five years of experience working as an appraiser, preferably in the field of litigation appraisal (e.g., expropriation and commercial litigation).  If a Candidate Member, the applicant should be no more than two years away from receiving the AACI designation.
