DAN WILSON, AACI, P.APP
President Elect, Appraisal Institute of Canada
Owner and principal of Jackson & Associates Ltd., a large appraisal and consulting firm on Vancouver Island. Dan and his team provide valuation and consulting services in both the commercial and residential sectors throughout the southwest coast of BC. Dan joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1994 and achieved his AACI early in 1999. In 2000 he began his volunteer career with the Institute and has served as a director of the Nanaimo Chapter continuously since that time. He was elected to the AIC-BC board of directors in 2004 and served two terms as their president from 2007 to 2009. Currently past president of his provincial association, Dan was elected to serve on AIC’s 2010-2011 Board of Directors. He has also contributed much volunteer time to AIC’s AMC Task Force and currently sits on the AIC Audit & Finance Committee.
SCOTT WILSON, AACI, P.APP
Vice President, Appraisal Institute of Canada
Scott has over 19 years of extensive real estate industry experience; including 17 years in the appraisal industry. He has owned, managed and worked in both real estate and appraisal firms. He is employed as the Project Manager of the Workforce Strategies Research Group at the University of Prince Edward Island, School of Business. Scott has an extensive volunteering history with the Appraisal Institute of Canada including being a founding director of PEI’s provincial association, and having recently completed four years as the President of AIC-PEI. Additionally, he has six years serving on the board of the PEI Real Estate Association; and has chaired or directed on several volunteer boards. Scott has two University of British Columbia Urban Land Economic Diplomas and was awarded his MBA in 2011, as part of the first graduating class at the University of Prince Edward Island. Scott currently serves as Chair of the Board's ad hoc Strategic Planning.
DANIEL DOUCET, AACI, P. APP
Vice President, Appraisal Institute of Canada
Daniel Doucet has 29 years’ experience as a real estate appraiser and is currently an Executive Vice President with Altus Group and the lead of National Right of Way Services. Mr. Doucet joined the AIC in 1982 and obtained the AACI designation in 1989. He has been involved with the New Brunswick Association of Real Estate Appraisers since 1995, is the current Past President and has served on the Board of Examiners for several years. Daniel has spoken at a number of industry conferences on the subject of land valuation techniques such as the Subdivision Development Approach.
MICHAEL MENDELA, AACI, P.APP (FELLOW)

Formerly, the Senior Appraiser for one of Canada's major financial institutions, Scotiabank in Toronto, Michael has over 37 years of professional property appraisal experience, consisting of 15 years in the Institutional sector and over 22 years in the private sector.
A member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1973, Michael has extensive volunteer experience with the Institute, both provincially and nationally.
In 2008 Michael was elected to The Appraisal Institute of Canada’s Board of Directors, during which time he also concurrently served for a period of 2 years on the AIC - Ontario Board of Directors. In 2010 Michael was elected to the position of Vice President of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. He also served as Chair of the Ad Hoc Professional Practice Seminar Redevelopment Committee. In March 2011 Michael assumed the position of President Elect and served as AIC President from June 2011 to June 2012.
GREG BENNETT, AACI, P.APP

Greg is the Appraisal Coordinator for the Canada Revenue Agency at its Newfoundland & Labrador Taxation Services Office. Prior to joining the agency, Greg worked in private practice with Kirkland, Balsom & Associates for an extended period of time. Greg joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1989 and has been an active AIC volunteer for over 20 years. He is a Past President of the NAAIC, committee chair for the 2008 annual AIC conference, and has chaired the Provincial Education, Public Relations, and Board of Examiners committees. Prior to joining the AIC Board of Directors in June 2008 he was a member of the AIC Investigation Committee. Greg is currently a member of the AIC Audit & Finance Committee.

Dan Brewer has over 30 years of property valuation experience in the private sector and is currently a senior appraiser and consultant for Appraisers Canada Inc in the Greater Toronto Area. Dan joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1983 and earned his CRA designation in 1988, then his AACI, P.App in 2006. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker, a licensed Mortgage Broker and he holds the Real Estate Institute of Canada’s CRP designation for Certified Reserve Fund Planners. During the past 20 years Dan has served on several committees at both the provincial and national level and he also speaks at various seminars and conferences.
JOHN PEEBLES, AACI, P.APP

John is a graduate of the University of B.C., faculty of forestry, receiving his degree in 1977. He became a Registered Professional Forester designation (RFP) in 1979. John joined the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1979, and after obtaining the CRA designation, received his AACI designation in 1987. John is past-president of the British Columbia Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. He has also served on the executive of three B.C. Chapters, Prince George, Kootenay, and Victoria. John also serves on the editorial board of the Canadian Property Valuation magazine. John has worked in public and private sector valuation, specializing in complex real estate research, valuation, and consulting assignments. John is currently engaged as a contractor for D.R. Coell and Associates Inc., in Victoria, BC. John acts as an expert for litigation matters. He also represents various levels of government and owners in relation to property acquisition, assessment appeals, and other matters. He is called upon to make presentations at professional seminars and conferences. John has authored a number of papers/articles on valuation topics, delivered valuation training for a number of private and public sector clients, and is a course author for the UBC Real Estate Division.
LOUIS POIRIER, AACI, P.APP

Louis Poirier is the General Manager for AEC International’s Montreal office; specializing in tax and operating cost management for AEC’s National and International client group for Quebec and Eastern Canada. Louis’ real estate career began in the late 1980’s in Moncton, New Brunswick when he joined the family’s real estate sales and appraisal firm. A second generation AACI, Louis has extensive experience valuing most types of real estate, though his current focus is in the large retail and industrial sectors. He has completed valuation and consultative assignments in seven of ten Canadian provinces and has lived in three. He is an avid volunteer with the AIC having served as provincial board president in NB, chair of the National Communications Committee, member of the National Standards Committee, and current board member for Quebec’s provincial association.
THOMAS FOX, AACI, P.APP

Thomas started in the family business working for his father Terry in 1996 and assumed leadership of the company when Terry semi-retired in 2007. With more than 15 years in valuation, Thomas continues to operate his firm, Fox Appraisals in Regina, Saskatchewan where he specializes in residential, multi-family, commercial and industrial properties. Thomas achieved his AACI in 2006 and has a wealth of volunteer experience in his profession and with the Institute. He served on AIC’s Marketing & Communications Committee and at the provincial level Thomas has been Provincial President for two terms. He chaired Saskatchewan’s Professional Development Committee as well as their Marketing Committee. Thomas continues to sit on the Provincial Board of Interviewers..
ANNE HELLIKER, AACI, P.APP

Anne, a graduate of Ryerson University in Urban Planning is a member of AIC and a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and Assessor’s Institute. She is a second generation appraiser working in the Brampton, Ontario market for Accredited Appraisals, where they offer residential and industrial/commercial valuations over a large geographical area west and northwest of Toronto. She has valuation experience in both the public and private sector. A member since 1977 she achieved her CRA designation in 1983 followed by her AACI designation in 1988. She has volunteered on the AIC-Ontario board for 10 years and chaired most of the provincial affiliate’s committees over the years. Anne has served on AIC’s Investigating Committee and she is currently Chapter Chair for the Credit Valley Chapter where she has served on the Executive since 1982.
RICHARD COLBOURNE, AACI, P.APP
Director, Appraisal Institute of Canada
Rick is the Atlantic Regional Manager of the Payment in Lieu of Taxes Program for Public Works and Government Services Canada in Halifax. Throughout his valuation career Rick has worked for a municipality, two provincial governments and now works as a Canadian Government employee for the second time.
Rick received the AACI designation in 1994 and is a specialist in the area of property assessment and taxation. He has led and managed the implementation of significant organizational changes throughout his career. These experiences led him to pursue studies in the “softer” side of change - the human element. In 2007 he graduated from Royal Roads University with a Masters of Arts Degree in Leadership and Training and completed a thesis on organizational change and the engagement of middle managers as change leaders.
Rick is certified in Emotional Intelligence (EI) and delivers coaching seminars for the National Managers Community of the Government of Canada. He is a member of the PWGSC national Community of Practice on Change Management and has made presentations on Organizational Change, Transition and Change Management. Rick served on the AIC Marketing Committee in Nova Scotia and has served as President of NSREAA for the last two years.
JOHN FARMER, AACI, P.App

Currently a Senior Valuation Consultant with Altus Group in Edmonton, Mr. Farmer has over 20 years of real estate experience. He originally trained in the United Kingdom to become a chartered surveyor; upon graduating in 1989, he worked for brokerage and property management firms in Birmingham, England. Having been based in Edmonton, Alberta since 1997 (initially with Keith Fraser & Co before amalgamating with Altus Group); commercial appraisal assignments have taken him throughout the province and into British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. He is an accepted Expert Witness for both litigation and arbitrations. A member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1999, Mr. Farmer has extensive local volunteer experience with the AIC: as Chair of the Edmonton Chapter (2009 – 2011), as a Director on the Alberta Provincial Board (2009 – present) and as a certified BDI interviewer (since 2009).
SURINDER PAL, AACI, P.APP
Director, Appraisal Institute of Canada
Surinder Pal has over 30 years of experience in the real estate valuation field, in both the public and private sector, and is currently working with Manitoba Hydro as a senior appraiser and consultant. After obtaining his CRA designation, he earned his AACI designation in 2000 from Appraisal Institute of Canada. He also holds an active Real Estate Broker’s license in Manitoba. Surinder has attained a Master Of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science and Bachelor Of Arts (B.A. Hons.) in Economics and taught Political Science and Economics courses at the post secondary level. He also had the honour of serving on the Board of Directors and Education Committee of the AIC-Manitoba and currently sits on the Provincial Board of Interviewers. In addition, Surinder has been active in administering real estate evaluation reporting activities with the Manitoba Real Estate Association.
PAULA MALCOLM-SCHALLER, CRA
Director, Appraisal Institute of Canada Paula works and lives in the Ottawa area, operating her own appraisal company in the residential sector. She has spent the past 25 years devoted to client focused risk assessment. She has been appraising for the past 10 years with approximately 15 prior years in the banking industry.
Paula joined the AIC in 2002 and obtained her CRA designation in 2006. From the start she has volunteered at various levels of the organization, beginning with the Ottawa Chapter Executive in the first few years then going on to serve in the position of Director representing the Ottawa and Kingston areas on the AIC-Ontario Board from 2008 to 2012. Paula has been a member of the Ontario Committee of Examiners and the Professional Competency Interview panel since November 2007. Volunteering on other committees, she has given a great deal of time to the AMC Task Force, the AMC Mortgage Fraud Task Force, and the Organizing Committee for the 2012 Conference. As a national Board Director, Paula is now a member of the AIC’s Education and Accreditation Committee.
