Our Purpose
The Appraisal Institute of Canada – Alberta (AIC – AB) represents approximately 800 professional members of the Appraisal Institute of Canada located in three Chapters (Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge) throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
We are the Appraisal Institute of Canada's regional partner in Alberta. Our purpose is to support and implement the policies and activities of the Institute in the Province.
Our Services
AIC – AB delivers the Institute's direct member programs and services within Alberta, except where impractical, or where economies of scale warrant national delivery by AIC or other partners.
We also strive to raise awareness of the profession, and the wide range of real property valuation services across a range of property types that our members offer.
AIC – AB is the first point of contact for those in Alberta wishing to join the Institute, and we provide ongoing assistance to members as they proceed to designation, and throughout their careers.
Our responsibilities include:
Membership services delivery including:
- Admission to Membership
- Administration of the designation process
- (including advice on current requirements and deadlines, and administration of the Applied Experience Program including final oral examinations)
- Retirement
- Resignation
- Reinstatement
In addition to these administrative responsibilities, the AIC Alberta offers a variety of value-added services including:

- Workshops, seminars and conferences
- Classroom delivery of the mandatory Professional Practice (Standards) Seminar
Advocacy and Promotion of the Profession
- Local/provincial media relations

- Participation in career fairs and trade shows

To support the members of the Appraisal Institute of Canada – Alberta in professionally serving the public through the application of the national and provincial standards within the legal, economic, and social environment of the province.
