First Steps

A complaint file is opened when the AIC receives a written complaint. This can be in the form of a letter or an email but is best submitted using the Complaint Form. A complaint can come from either a client or a fellow member.

A complainant will receive an acknowledgement of the complaint, usually by mail. This acknowledgement will enclose Consent to allow the complainant’s name to be disclosed if necessary. If signed, it will allow the AIC to send notice of the final outcome of the complaint to the complainant.

The member who is subject of the complaint will receive notice of the complaint within thirty (30) days of it being received by the Counsellor, Professional Practice.
