The Appraisal Institute of Canada – British Columbia (AIC – BC) has been tasked with administering admissions to membership and changes of membership status. These tasks include:
- Administration of the designation process (advice on current requirements and deadlines, administration of the Applied Experience Program and oral examinations)
- Processing Candidate and Student Member Applications
- Changes in Membership Status, including:
- Retirement
- Resignation
- Compassionate Leave
- Reinstatement
Path to Designation
The path to designation includes a number of detailed requirements that must be completed within a prescribed time period. Our provincial organization will assist you in tracking your progress towards designation.

Candidates & Students
The AIC – BC administrative office assist those individuals who are living in British Columbia or the Yukon and want to join the Appraisal Institute of Canada as Candidate or Student members. AIC – BC processes applications for student and prospective Candidate members of the Institute who have met the necessary membership prerequisites. Students who reside in the province of British Columbia are eligible for membership in AIC – BC when they join the Institute and remit their national dues. Note that students who are enrolled full- or part-time as a student in a recognized post-secondary institution OR who are enrolled in the AIC program of professional studies on a full- or part-time basis are eligible for a rebate on their membership dues. Reinstatement
Former members of the Institute may be reinstated, subject to the criteria for reinstatement as established by the Board of Directors from time-to-time. Details on the exact requirements for reinstatement are outlined in the General Policies on Reinstatement (December 2009).
Reinstatement is initiated through the British Columbia office and is subject to payment of the applicable fees. Please contact us directly to determine the cost to reinstate.
Associate Membership
Those wishing to join the Institute as an Associate member must complete an Application for Associate Membership and return it to the national office of the Institute in Ottawa.
