Examination Rewrite Forms

2013 – 2017 CPD Cycle
AIC’s Professional Practice Seminar (formerly known as the Standards Seminar) is a mandatory requirement under the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) cycle for all AIC members, including candidates. The purpose of the seminar is to teach the fundamentals and foundations of AIC’s ethics, appraisal, review and consulting standards, and to provide best practices to ensure compliance and claim prevention. Designated Members earn 14 CPD credits upon successful completion of the seminar.

Starting in June 2013 Designated Members will have the option of completing two 1-day professional practice seminars (7 credits each with no exam) or the 2-day professional practice seminar with exam.

Professional Practice Seminar Classroom Session  
Provincial associations and affiliated provincial organizations offer the 1-day and 2-day classroom versions at various times and locations throughout the year. All seminar content is available in electronic format and should be printed and/or downloaded onto a USB key, electronic or mobile device (e.g. laptop, tablet) for the classroom session. No hard copies will be provided. 

 

Professional Practice Seminar by Distance Education
The AIC National Office offers a distance learning version of the 2-day Professional Practice Seminar, which includes an exam.    

Step 1: Enrolment for Professional Practice Seminar by Distance Education  

You may enroll and pay securely online. Simply log in using your username and password at https://members.aicanada.ca/iMISpublic/Core/Events/events.aspx. Follow the on-screen instructions OR you may complete the Distance Learning Enrolment Form and return it with payment to AIC National Office, Attention: Professional Practice Coordinator.

PLEASE NOTE that International registrants are provided with online access to the seminar materials only. When registering, please ensure you select the “web link only” registration category.

Step 2: Registering for the Distance Education Examination

You must:
 

- register an examination date and identify a Proctor at least 14 business days in advance of the date of writing. Please note that the exam must be written within 60 days of enrollment.

- complete the Examination Registration Form and return to AIC National Office, Attention: Professional Practice Coordinator.

Examination Registration will be accepted up to 90 days after the date of application subject to a late fee. CPD credits can only be earned by successfully completing the exam.  

If You Fail the Exam (Classroom and Distance Learning)
If you fail to obtain the passing grade of 50% for the examination, you will have 60 days from the date of a failure notification to rewrite the exam, after which time a late fee will apply.

You will have two opportunities to rewrite the exam. If you are unable to pass the exam after two attempts, you must retake the entire seminar either through distance learning or at another classroom session.

Step 1: Applying for a Rewrite

You may apply and pay the fee for an examination rewrite securely over the web. Simply log in using your username and password at https://members.aicanada.ca/iMISpublic/Core/Events/Events.aspx. Follow the on screen instructions OR complete the Rewrite Application Form and return with payment to AIC National Office, Attention: Professional Practice Coordinator.

Step 2: Registering for the Examination Rewrite
 

You must

-register an examination rewrite date and identify a Proctor at least 14 business days in advance of the date of rewriting. Please note that the exam must be rewritten 60 days from the date of a failure notification.

-complete the Examination Rewrite Registration Form and return to the AIC National Office, Attention: Professional Practice Coordinator.

  

Exam available in English and French    

For both the classroom and the distance education seminars, you have the opportunity to write the exam in the language of your choice, regardless of whether the seminar was taken in French or English. The default exam language is English therefore, you must specify on the Examination Registration Form if you wish to write the French exam.
