The final designation requirement is an oral examination, carried out by a provincially appointed panel of examiners. The exam is designed to test candidates’ proficiency in the application of the First Principles of Value and evaluates their critical professional skills – ethics, effective communication and critical thinking.
Effective January 1, 2008 (for AACIs) and April 1, 2008 (for CRAs), all candidates applying for designation, at or after that date, must successfully complete a written examination and an oral interview in order to be awarded the designation. Candidates who are unsuccessful in the oral examination prior to that date and return for a second examination after that date will then be required to complete both the oral and written examination. The written examination will test critical thinking, application of First Principles of Value, standards and ethics in a series of case study and work experience questions.
Candidates who are unsuccessful in the written examination will have the option of requesting up to two re-writes. After three attempts Candidates who are unsuccessful with the written examination will be required to take additional courses as prescribed by the Institute.
