SPECIAL RESOLUTION FOR AGM

Whereas the New BC Societies Act requires a special resolution to confirm the BC Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada is a member-funded society stated in its Constitution,

 

Therefore, be it resolved that;

 

The Constitution of the BC Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada be amended to include the following statement:

 

III. The Association is a member-funded society. It is funded primarily by its members to carry on activities for the benefit of its members. On its liquidation of dissolution, the Association may distribute its money and other property to its members.

 

PROXIES

If you are unable to attend the AGM, you may appoint a proxy to vote in your place.   In accordance with the BC Association Bylaws, Section XI,2.

 

You can find the proxy in the September edition of the WestCoast Appraiser or call the office and we will email a copy to you.

There are three menu choices selected for this event.  As discussed, and motion passed, the cost for the meal is waived for the Fall 2016 AGM meeting.  Please select from one of the following menu choices: 

  1. Roasted Chicken with a sweet pea pesto and sherry reduction. Comes with spatzle and seasonal vegetables.
  2. Grilled sirloin with garlic whipped mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
  3. Butternut Squash Ravioli. Comes with a brown butter sauce, tomatoes, roasted butternut squash, pine nuts, parmesan cheese and fresh sage.  A garlic focaccia wedge is included.

Professional Practice Seminar

Below is a list of Professional Practice Seminar (PPS) 1-day classroom sessions scheduled for BC in 2016 and 2017.

 

PLEASE NOTE the price of the seminar increases as we move closer to the end of the Continuing Professional Development cycle – December 31, 2017. This is to encourage members to complete the PPS early and avoid the late rush.

CANCELLATION POLICY
AIC-BC reserves the right to cancel any session which does not meet the minimum registrant requirement. In the event a session is cancelled, members will receive a full refund and will be required to register for a different date.   Members who cancel their registration less than two weeks prior to the session date will be subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee.  

 

Registration for the Fall 2016 sessions is now open. Venues will be posted and a confirmation email with location and time will be sent once details have been finalized.

RI(BC) VANCOUVER, NORTH FRASER AND FRASER VALLEY CHAPTERS

Chartered Boat Cruise through the Vanouver Harbour on the M.V. Royal Vancouver

 

August 31, 2016

 

5:30pm – 9:00pm

 

What better way to learn about waterfront development then through a guided boat cruise? Join the Vancouver, North Fraser and Fraser Valley Chapter’s, as well as Michael Gordon, Senior Planner with the City of Vancouver for a tour of the Vancouver harbour, where he will give a talk on various waterfront developments.

Boarding will begin at 5:30 pm, with departure at 6 p.m. returning to dock at 9p.m. The Yacht is moored on the dock next to “Bridges Restaurant ” on Granville Island.  Appetizers will be served and a full stocked cash bar will be on board.

Michael Gordon, M.Sc M.C.I.P is Senior Central Area Planner for the City of Vancouver primarily focused on planning in the downtown peninsula and the False Creek basin. He has been an Adjunct Professor teaching Housing Policy at the University of British Columbia for 12 years.  From 2004 – 2007, Michael represented British Columbia planners on the Governing Council for the Canadian Institute of Planners. Recently, he was also Vice-President of the Planning Institute of British Columbia.  

He has written extensively on urban design and planning, demographics and housing.  Currently, he is working on an article about the emergence of smaller ‘urban supermarkets’ in high density neighborhoods in Vancouver and is shooting a documentary on the history of live music venues in Vancouver with Mark Pickersgill. He has been invited to speak and advise on urban issues in Berlin, New York, Seattle, Philadelphia, Portland, Memphis, Fort Worth, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, Los Angeles and other cities. He has also received a number of awards for achievements in planning and his volunteer contributions to city planning and community-based planning.
