Become an AACI or CRA
The Appraisal Institute of Canada grants the two most prestigious real property valuation designations in Canada. The Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) and Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designations are the most highly regarded in the marketplace and identify highly qualified individuals who have completed AIC's rigorous education, experience and examination requirements.
The AACI designation is the higher of the two designations, requiring completion of additional curriculum and experience requirements. However, the scope of work that can be undertaken by an AACI designated member is much broader than that of a CRA as outlined below.
Many individuals begin by earning their CRA designation and then subsequently complete the additional requirements for the AACI designation.
Individuals who hold a business degree or a degree with a business focus from a Canadian university may be eligible for the UBC/AIC Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation (PGCV) program . This is a fast track program which recognizes the business focus of your existing education.
Our Designations
AACI (Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute) designates fully accredited membership in the Institute and may be used by the holder in connection with the appraisal of a wide range of property. AACI, P.App (Professional Appraiser) may only be used by a fully accredited (AACI) member and must immediately follow the AACI designation.
CRA (Canadian Residential Appraiser) designates members qualified in the appraisal and valuation of individual undeveloped residential dwelling sites and dwellings containing not more than four self-contained family housing units.
