Location: Remote

Hours Worked: 35 hours per week.

About the Role

As an Appraisal Quality Assurance Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to review appraisal reports completed by appraisers to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, compliance with industry regulations and with client’s terms of references. In addition, you will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of standardized review processes aimed at enhancing the quality and consistency of appraisal reports. This role requires a minimum a residential or candidate designation with the OEAQ, CNAREA or AIC association. 

 

Responsibilities:

Appraisal Quality Review

  • Review appraisal reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, adherence to industry standards (CUSPAP and USPAP) and regulations and to clients’ terms of references.
  • Identify errors, discrepancies, or inconsistencies in appraisal reports and work with appraisers to rectify them.
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to appraisers, focusing on areas for improvement and best practices.
  • Review minimum volume percentages.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, best practices, and market trends to ensure the highest quality standards.

 

Client Quality Assurance

  • Attend monthly quality review meetings with clients to present findings and collaborate on appraisal quality improvement strategies.
  • Act as a liaison between our appraiser network and our clients to ensure alignment with their specific quality expectations and terms of reference.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to quality reviews, process development, and training efforts to be shared with our clients in a meaningful way.
  • Prepare and review specific client quality reporting and provide specialized feedback and answers. Attending additional client meetings as requested.
  • Process value appeals and review of 2’s within a 24-hour timeframe to assist clients in decisioning.

 

Appraiser Performance Management

  • Monitor and track appraisal report corrections to ensure they meet company and industry standards. Develop a tracking process and use appropriate tools to monitor performance improvement for the companies that had been identified with issues and coached accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the Appraiser Network Managers to establish and maintain quality control guidelines and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to quality reviews, process development, and training efforts.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance initiatives that will improve performance.

Subject Matter Expert

  • Lead the resolution of ad hoc high-level escalations related to appraisal quality or other critical issues as a subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address complex challenges and implement strategic solutions.
  • Provide professional input with regards to client value appeal requests.
  • Provide supplier support to optimize key RPS technologies including appraisal platform, forms, mobile website/apps, etc.

 

 

Education

  • You are a certified and designated Appraiser (CNAREA, OEAQ or AIC) – DAR/EA/CRA preferred.
  • Minium of 5 years experience in the appraisal field.
  • Proven experience in quality control and review of appraisal reports.

 

 

Skills/ Knowledge:

  • French / English verbal, reading and writing skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of appraisal processes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Critical thinking ability to problem solve.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in using technology tools and systems commonly used in the appraisal industry.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines (e.g., CUSPAP, USPAP).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
