Deana Halladay

Deana was awarded the Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designation in 1998. In March 2022, the AIC bestowed the highest honour of a Fellowship. She is currently serving as the representative from Manitoba on the National Board of Directors. She is also a past-president of the Manitoba Association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Deana was a member of the Standards Sub-Committee (2013-2019). She is currently a member of the Forms Sub-Committee and the Individual Degree Exemption Assessment (IDEA) Committee of the Appraisal Institute of Canada and was appointed to the “Shaping Our Future” Task Force. She continues to be a certified lecturer for the Professional Practice Seminar (2000-current). Deana was awarded Presidential Citations from the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 2011, 2013 and 2018. She was a member and alternate chair of the Investigating Committee from 2000 to 2008 and member from 2010 to 2011. She also participated in the redevelopment of the Professional Practice Seminar for 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020. She is the author and presenter of an appraisal forms seminar, “Forming an Appraisal” and an ethics seminar, “Assessing the Value of Your Ethics” and a practice diversification seminar, “Beyond the First Mortgage Financing Appraisal”. She developed and authored CPD 132: More than Just Form-Filling: Creating Professional Residential Appraisal Reports for the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. Deana has been contracted and qualified as an Appraisal Subject Matter Expert before the Courts. She has also completed Level 2 Home Inspection and was a contributing author to the “Ask the Appraiser” column which appeared regularly in the Winnipeg Free Press. She has authored numerous articles that were published in the Canadian Property Valuation magazine. Deana has completed residential and recreational property assignments relating to mortgage lending, assessment appeals, insurance, foreclosure, estates, bankruptcy, V-Day, relocation and divorce. Deana has over 30 years of residential real estate appraisal experience specializing in unique and complex residential appraisal assignments. Her hobbies include cycling, Nordic and downhill skiing, golfing and kayaking. She enjoys lake time at Grand Beach and Riding Mountain and spending time with her two boys and fiance, Kelly.
