John Farmer
Director, Appraisal Institute of Canada
Currently a Senior Valuation Consultant with Altus Group in Edmonton, Mr. Farmer has over 20 years of real estate experience. He originally trained in the United Kingdom to become a chartered surveyor; upon graduating in 1989, he worked for brokerage and property management firms in Birmingham, England. Having been based in Edmonton, Alberta since 1997 (initially with Keith Fraser & Co before amalgamating with Altus Group); commercial appraisal assignments have taken him throughout the province and into British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. He is an accepted Expert Witness for both litigation and arbitrations. A member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 1999, Mr. Farmer has extensive local volunteer experience with the AIC: as Chair of the Edmonton Chapter (2009 – 2011), as a Director on the Alberta Provincial Board (2009 – 2013) and as a certified BDI interviewer (since 2009).
