Role: Junior Reserve Planning Associate
Location: Burnaby, BC
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
The Role
As a Junior Reserve Planning Associate, you will assist in conducting reserve fund studies, depreciation reports, and financial analyses for property owners and managers. Your role will involve condition assessments, financial forecasting, site reviews, and report writing to support property maintenance and capital planning strategies.
Your Key Contributions
Technical Expertise
- Conduct and assist in preparing Reserve Fund Studies, Depreciation Reports, and related asset management plans.
- Apply knowledge of the Strata Property Act, BC Building Code, and industry regulations to assessments and reports.
- Review building drawings, financial documents, and property bylaws to develop accurate funding models.
- Perform on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties to assess physical asset conditions.
- Develop cost estimates for repairs and replacements based on industry standards and market trends.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients in a clear and professional manner.
- Maintain and update costing databases and assist in data compilation for industry publications.
Business Growth & Engagement
- Assist in drafting proposals, RFPs, and marketing materials for client outreach.
- Contribute to research and data analysis for presentations, articles, and conferences.
- Support business growth initiatives through client engagement and industry networking.
- Collaboration & Development
- Collaborate with senior and intermediate team members to develop expertise in asset management.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear insights and professional recommendations.
- Ensure all deliverables meet scope, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed about evolving regulations, market trends, and reserve planning best practices.
What You Bring to the Table
Education & Background
- Degree or Diploma or designation in Engineering, Architecture, Appraisal, Construction Management, or a related field. (Asset but not required)
- Pursuing or holding a designation in reserve planning (e.g., CRP, PRA) is an asset.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in asset management, real estate consulting, or related fields.
Skills & Strengths
- Strong understanding of building components, construction methods, and financial documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing.
- Ability to analyze complex financial and technical data to develop actionable insights.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management tools.
- A self-starter mindset with a commitment to professional development.
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
Additional Requirements
- Valid British Columbia driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to travel for site assessments as needed.
