About the role.

Privilege Underwriters Inc. (PURE) is a member owned insurance company dedicated to reducing the cost of risk associated with the property and liability exposures of high-net-worth individuals and families. We are seeking a Risk Manager in the Toronto, ON area who has a proven record of success in assessment and evaluation of loss control. You’ll conduct on-site and virtual consultations, offering tailored loss prevention strategies to our members. The position includes working alongside our underwriting team, our members and brokers and developing loss prevention best practices to safeguard high-net-worth individuals and families from property and liability risks.

What You’ll Do.

  • Comprehensive Consultations: Conduct monthly on-site and virtual consultations to assess property risks and offer tailored loss control advice, ensuring accurate coverage.
  • Efficient Reporting: Utilize technology to generate timely PURE360 Risk Reports, informing underwriting decisions and improving property protection strategies.
  • Detailed Documentation: Identify unique property features, document measurements and sketches, providing valuable insights for underwriting assessments.
  • Risk Identification: Proactively identify potential risks during consultations, effectively communicating insights to underwriters and brokers.
  • Member Engagement: Provide exceptional experiences, actively listening to feedback and supporting members in implementing loss prevention measures.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay informed of regional trends and maintain relationships with local builders and vendors, enriching our understanding of evolving risks.
  • Long-Term Relationships**: Cultivate ongoing partnerships with members through ongoing loss prevention council, strengthening our commitment to their protection.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work with teams to identify emerging loss trends and develop innovative solutions for risk mitigation.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Occasionally deliver risk management training sessions to internal teams, enhancing collective capabilities.
  • Handling Complex Properties: Engage with large and complex properties, determining replacement costs and providing expert loss prevention advice.

What We’re Looking For.

  • 5+ years’ experience in loss control, construction, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and web applications.
  • Strong relationship management and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of APEX or similar sketching software preferred.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and occasionally to the US.
  • Valid passport or willingness to obtain one within 6 months of start date.
  • G class driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and agility in learning and applying new information.​

The base salary for this role can range from $105,000-$135,000 CAD, based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
