The Appraisal Institute of Canada – Ontario (AIC-ON) is the provincial association of the Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC) within Ontario. Established in 1960, AIC-ON represent approximately 2,300 members and delivers AIC’s member programs and services within the province. AIC-ON’s objective is to serve the profession and the public with programs to ensure members’ interests are advanced and the public is adequately protected.
AIC-ON helps the public find designated appraisers for residential, commercial, industrial and investment-type properties and helps people interested in learning more about real estate appraisal and the property valuation professional. AIC-ON works in collaboration with the Appraisal Institute of Canada to provide various services to the Members of both organizations. We provide courses and seminars in real estate appraisal and professional development for existing partners.

We would like to welcome Murray Visser, AACI as our President for 2018 – 2019.
Ontario Association President Murray Visser has been working in the field of real estate appraisal since 1991, and earned his AACI designation in 1996. He has worked for both large and small firms over the years, primarily on the fee side of the industry, but also worked for a large bank in the real estate development group. Since 2004 he has been owner of PVCI Inc., a mid size appraisal firm operating throughout the GTA in both the residential and commercial sectors.
Education has always been important to Murray. Prior to obtaining his AACI designation, Murray received his honours business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, and continues to upgrade qualifications, and has taught and delivered lectures at Ryerson University and the Rotman School of Business. He has served as Chapter Chair in Oshawa Durham, and on the provincial Board since 2014.
Professionally, Murray has worked on many types of appraisal assignments, including large industrial and commercial assets, development sites, and expropriation work. He has appeared as an expert witness in various courts and tribunals over the years. He looks forward to serving the membership for the next year, and welcomes questions and input from all members.
